WAPA Forecasts:
According to the latest WAPA forecasts, this year’s apple production in the European Union is expected to reach nearly 9.5 million tonnes, representing a year-on-year decline of 15.6% due to extreme weather events. Despite a more challenging season and lower harvests in countries such as Poland (2.67 million tonnes; -30%) and France (1.16 million tonnes; -24%), the EU sector remains highly competitive. Italy is recording stable production (2.27 million tonnes; just -2.2%), while Spain (+7.5%) and Greece (+53%) are expected to see increases. This ensures continuity of supply of key varieties such as Gala (1.36 million tonnes) and Golden Delicious (1.81 million tonnes).
