Apple exports in May 2026

Nearly 85,000 tonnes of European apples reached foreign markets in May 2026. Although Asian destinations such as India and Vietnam account for a small share of total sales, Polish and French producers play a key role in these markets.

According to the latest data from the European Commission, the total volume of apple exports from European Union countries in May 2026 amounted to 84,827 tonnes.

A total of 3,154 tonnes of fruit were exported to India and Vietnam in May, accounting for approximately 3.7% of total European exports that month. For comparison, during the same period of the 2024/2025 season, 4,224 tonnes were shipped to the two countries, representing a noticeable year-on-year decline.

Export results by market in May 2026:

• India: 3,028 tonnes
• Vietnam: 126 tonnes

India remains by far one of the most important and promising destinations for European apples in Asia, with export volumes many times higher than those recorded in the Vietnamese market.

Individual EU countries have established strong positions in Asian markets:

• Poland was the largest European supplier of apples to India, exporting as much as 1,611 tonnes of fruit in May, accounting for more than half of total EU exports to this market.
• France dominated apple sales in Vietnam, accounting for the entire 126 tonnes of apples exported from the EU to the country during the month under review.
