Apple exports in March 2026
March 2026 proved to be an exceptionally successful month for the EU fruit-growing sector. The volume of apple exports to markets outside the European Union reached an impressive 115,234 tonnes, representing a 33 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2025.
Exports of European apples to India totalled 16,368 tonnes, whilst 541 tonnes were shipped to Vietnam. This means that the Indian market is the leading non-European destination
and significantly outstrips Vietnam in terms of import volumes
In March, these two countries together imported 16,909 tonnes of EU apples, accounting for as much as 14.5% of total exports outside the EU that month (meaning almost one in every seven tonnes went to these two markets).
The largest European apple exporters in March 2026 were:
• Poland: 45,908 tonnes,
• Italy: 41,741 tonnes,
• France: 16,302 tonnes.
These three countries account for approximately 90% of European apple exports.
