Gala
It is one of the most popular apple varieties in Poland and the most frequently exported. It bears fruit earlier than other varieties. It can be grown organically, also in various climatic zones, because it is considered a frost-resistant variety. The trees grow poorly. This variety bears fruit early and is very fertile. The fruits are small or medium-sized, oval with a more or less clearly marked cone and slight ribs at the calyx. They have yellow-orange skin with striped, crimson blush. The fruits are very tasty, sweet and beautiful, ripening at the end of September. They are suitable for eating immediately after harvesting. They can be stored until mid-winter.
Golden Delicious
This variety ranks first in world apple production. It is perfect for growing in modern, densely planted dwarf orchards. It bears fruit regularly and abundantly. The fruits are shapely, beautiful, very tasty, and aromatic, covered with greenish-yellow, hard skin, resistant to bruises. They are very durable when stored in cold storage and they can be stored until the next harvest.
Jonagold
This is one of the most delicious varieties of dessert apples. It is also perfect for preserves. The fruits are large, spherical with a cone, with light ribs on the side of the calyx. The skin is covered with wax, which makes them store well. They have yellow skin with a red blush. The flesh is white with a green tint, later it turns green and creamy. The fruits are tasty, juicy with a very pleasant aroma. It is a late variety, suitable for storage.
Red Jonaprice
A variety that is a naturally occurring mutation of the ‘Jonagold’ variety. The fruits are characterized by a deep red colour. They are very appetizing. Additionally, the fruits of this variety remain suitable for consumption for a long time and have great taste. The apples have smooth skin covered with natural waxes, which makes them attractive. The flesh is yellowish, crunchy, very aromatic and sweet. The fruits store well as long as they are harvested at the right time.
Pinova
It is a late winter variety of apple tree, quite resistant to apple scab and powdery mildew. The trees grow moderately and produce abundant fruit from the third year after planting. They tend to bear excessive fruit and therefore it is recommended to cut off excess fruit buds in June. The fruits are medium-sized, conical, yellow-green, covered with striped blush. Their flesh is yellowish, sweet and sour, and very tasty. The fruits ripen late, in the second half of October. Under appropriate conditions, the apples can be stored until February, and in a cold store with a controlled atmosphere even until May.
Idared
It is the latest variety commonly grown in commercial orchards. The trees do not grow very strongly, begin to bear fruit early, they bear fruit abundantly and annually. The variety is quite resistant to scab and susceptible to powdery mildew. The fruits are medium-sized, spherical, heavy, light yellow, with a red, striped blush. The advantage of this variety is its enormous fertility. It can be grown on dwarf and semi-dwarf rootstocks. The fruits are harvested in mid-October. They can be stored until spring (until May).
