Apple pie is a popular apple cake that comes in various versions. However, apple pie is not the only delicious sweet treat with apples as the lead. We present appetizing apple desserts that will perfectly end a lavish dinner or satisfy a craving for something sweet.
One of the variants of apple pie is Tart Tatin. This apple-laden French pastry is also known as an inverted tart. The dish owes its name to the characteristic way it is served. Before serving, the tart should be inverted, thanks to which the apples with which the shortcrust pastry was stuffed are on top. Tarte Tatin is easy to prepare, and at the same time impressive. It tastes great both hot and cold, it goes perfectly with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
For hot days
Apples can also be used to make ice-cream. One of its versions is a refreshing sorbet. Apple sorbet is basically a frozen fruit mousse mixed with water, spices and sugar or honey, although the treat works just as well in a sugar-free version. The dessert can be made without an ice cream maker from both fresh and frozen apples. To effectively serve apple sorbet, put it a cup with some flavoured sauce, fresh mint leaves or fruit pieces.
Apple cone will be particularly enjoyed by puff pastry enthusiasts. Crispy on the outside, and soft inside, the dough is filled with diced apples with some wheat flour, cinnamon and sugar. The name of the dessert refers to its characteristic triangular shape. After baking, the dish is usually covered with lemon juice icing, although the apple cone also tastes great when sprinkled with powdered sugar.
The advantage of this apple dessert is not only the ease of its preparation, but also versatility. We are talking about caramelized apples, i.e. pieces of fruit heated in a pan with sugar and cinnamon. Apples prepared in this way can be eaten immediately after removing from the stove or stored in a tightly closed jar and used later as an addition to yoghurts, oatmeal, pancakes or waffles. Caramelized apples delight with their taste also served with ice cream, pudding or pancakes.
