Brimming with successes, trips, fruitful business meetings, and many promotional initiatives, the second year of the "Time for Apples from Europe!" campaign is summarised here. It was an intensive yet highly fruitful and productive period during which the project gathered momentum. What has surprised and captivated audiences precisely within the last twelve months?

This is another year of the campaign's media presence. Seven press releases were sent to recipients in Egypt and Jordan. ZSRP President Miroslaw Maliszewski gave four interviews, two of which appeared in the Egyptian print press (Egyptian Gazette, Al. Alam Al Youm) and the other two on Jordanian websites (Ammon News, Al Wakeel).

The official campaign website - applesfromeurope.eu - served as the knowledge base for European apples and their production throughout this period. A total of 39 news items were published on the website. To maximise audience reach, the publications were released in three languages: Polish, English, and Arabic.

The campaign's online presence will persist beyond this point—our level of social media activity was even more extensive in the previous year. The campaign's Facebook profile featured 180 published posts. 4 competitions and 6 quizzes were held, resulting in the distribution of 58 prizes for participation. Over the last twelve months, the number of followers has grown by 2,530.

The promotion of European fruit in the second year of the campaign was spearheaded by Omar Araby, an Egyptian blogger renowned for his culinary posts on Instagram, with more than 650,000 observers. Omar Araby presented the Egyptian viewers with four recipes featuring European apples. The blogger demonstrated the efficient incorporation of European apples into sweet dishes (such as apple crumble) and savoury dishes (like creamy apple chicken, apple fattoush, or apple sweet and sour prawns).

However, our presence did not end with online activities—we know how important it is to have a physical presence in our target markets.  Therefore, we expanded the campaign to include the promotion of European apples in Jordan and Egypt.

From 27-31.05.2023, a delegation of European apple producers travelled to Amman to enhance business ties between the European Union and Jordan. A pivotal moment during the mission's second day was a seminar dedicated to European apples. The trade mission also included another "Time for Apples from Europe" campaign press conference.

Between 12-14 December 2023, a delegation consisting of members from the Polish Fruit Growers' Association and European apple producers participated in the Food Africa trade fair in Cairo. Food Africa 2023 served as a hub for the industry and a platform to explore the diversity of European apples.

We are thrilled to reflect on the activities thus far and eagerly anticipate the upcoming challenges of the next year. To stay informed about campaign activities, we recommend you follow the campaign's Facebook profile at: https://www.facebook.com/applesfromeurope/
