European Apples – reliable supply and high quality for importers in India and Vietnam

Europe is one of the world’s largest apple producers, and European fruit has been reaching demanding international markets for many years. Consistent quality, a wide selection of varieties, and strict safety standards make European apples increasingly trusted by importers across Asia, particularly in India and Vietnam.

India has been steadily increasing its imports of apples from Europe over the past several seasons[i]. In the 2024/2025 season, more than 51,000 tons of European apples were shipped to India, and deliveries in the 2025/2026 season began at a stable level. In October 2025 alone, Poland shipped a record over 6,000 tons of apples to India. European apples are chosen primarily for their uniform quality, attractive appearance, and long-lasting freshness. The most sought-after varieties in India include Gala (including Royal Gala), Red Delicious and its sports, Golden Delicious, and Granny Smith. These apples meet the expectations of importers and retail chains that prioritize varieties with good transport durability and stable quality parameters.

Vietnam has also been consistently increasing its imports of European apples over recent years. In the 2024/2025 season, the country imported over 11,000 tons of apples (mainly from France and Poland)[ii], and interest remains stable. The most frequently chosen variety is Gala and its sports, valued for its attractive coloration, sweet flavor, and uniform size.

Deliveries of European apples are characterized by regularity, predictability, and the availability of varieties tailored to different market segments — from retail chains to distributors and importers of premium products. A strict production control and documentation system ensures full traceability of the fruit, which is a key advantage for imports into non-EU countries.

India and Vietnam continue to be among the most important markets where European apples maintain a very strong position and growing recognition among consumers and business partners.
